Voyage du 1er au 5 novembre 2023

Le Chœur de Tourrettes-sur-Loup est allé à la rencontre de l'ensemble vocal Ashdown Singers, dans le Sussex, près de Brighton.

Nous y avons partagé 2 concerts, l'un à Uckfield, l'autre à Ripe, mêlant nos voix avec plaisir sur des chants communs, 2 en anglais suivis de La Romance de Paris en bouquet final ! 

Entre les répétitions et les concerts, nous avons pu profiter de cette jolie région et faire un peu de tourisme... Nous avons visité le Palais oriental du Roi George IV à Brighton, ainsi que le parc et les jardins de Sheffield, avec quelques heures de soleil juste au bon moment pour nous révéler des couleurs automnales incroyables !

Nos amis anglais doivent venir à Tourrettes à l'automne 2025 !!!

From 1st-5th November, local choir Ashdown Singers hosted a very successful exchange with Choeur de Tourettes-sur-Loup from the south of France.

On Thursday, the visitors braved storm Ciaran for a visit to Brighton, where a French-speaking tour guide showed them around the Royal Pavilion and some of the tourists enjoyed their first taste of fish and chips.

Friday saw the group admiring the wonderful autumn colours of Sheffield Park gardens – luckily the sun came out to really show off the beautiful grounds, which one visitor later described as a 'firework park' due to all the vibrant reds and yellows!

On Friday and Saturday evening, both choirs combined for two very successful concerts, in Uckfield's Holy Cross Church and St John the Baptist in Ripe respectively.

The visit concluded with a lovely meal at the Yew Tree Inn at Chalvington, where the staff and regulars were treated to a rousing rendition of a French drinking song based on a medieval dance.

Ashdown Singers look forward to keeping in musical contact with this lovely group of likeminded people in the future. There is even talk of a return visit!
